Tarot across the Trilogy

This card is about transitions and cycles. It warns that hanging onto the past will hinder the future. In each book, the characters must let go of parts of something to move things forward; Janine- her violent dark past, Kiki-her vow of chastity, Ian-his ideas of the TV show, and Max-his shallow ambitions. As they let go, the arc of the trilogy moves toward the final conclusion.

The Lovers is a card about relationships, making connections, alignment, and also love. In book one, the FMC fights to make all of those connections as she moves away from her dark past. In book two, the FMC finds the coven, and two sisters (Kiki and Gwen) to help her make spiritual connections. Finally, in book three, we see how a group must align in their common goal to rebalance the cosmic energy. All of this, as well as the love connections, carry through the arc of the trilogy.

Illusion, fear, anxiety, and subconsious intuition follow that characters throughout the trilogy. It drives Janine (FMC) to question her perceptions in book one, its the device Max-MMC2 (as well as the man who knifed the FMC) use to gain power and influence, and in the final chapter, it is the driving force between male and female as the characters move toward the final conclusion.

This card is constantly revolving and reflects karma,destiny, and the cycles of life. It is clear in the trilogy that the wheel is unbalanced as darkness interferes at every step.
